With eight years of experience as a project manager and team leader, Stefan has successfully led small teams of writers and researchers, managed projects, and coordinated various initiatives, including scientific assessments, international teams, and capacity-building projects.

As a researcher, Stefan has dedicated 15 years to academic and policy-relevant research on key global issues such as agriculture, biodiversity, energy, and climate change. His expertise includes food security, climate change mitigation through agriculture and forests, biodiversity conservation, genetic resource management, biosafety, and renewable energy transitions.

With 12 years of experience in writing for scientific audiences, policy makers, and the general public in German and English, Stefan has contributed to scientific assessment reports, analyses on international environmental negotiations, and updates on international environmental policy and practice.
