Something happened to me in June/July. I decided to stop waiting and start making. It's not like I've been sitting around twiddling my thumbs and waiting. I've been hustling, working my butt off... but still hoping that someone with power would recognize my artistic value and "snatch me up" and get me those big writing gigs. Those high profile productions. Maybe I finally faced the fact that it might never happen. I don't know what did it, but something switched in my brain and 2024 became the year I make the stuff myself. And when I say "myself" I don't mean alone. I'd had collaborators saying, "hey, let's make this ourselves" for a while and I just didn't do anything about it. I finally got it. We're doing this. And we're not waiting, we're doing it now. As a result, I'm currently working on two short films and a feature indie (adaptation of one of my plays.) These are all adaptations of my plays, in fact. Thing are aligning. I'm in the most flowy place of my life (it feels.) Creativity is flowing and the time is now, not later. I'm just so grateful that I finally woke up and answered the call. It feels like play. It feels like creation. It is art.
I hope this rings true for some of you. Answer the call. Make your thing. And make it today.
