Sybil Green
Health Policy Expert; Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Champion; Educator
Sybil R. Green, JD, RPh, MHA, is the Vice President and Chief Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Officer at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).124 She is a health care policy expert with experience in both corporate and nonprofit organizations.1 In her role at ASCO, Green is responsible for guiding and organizing the organization's external and internal equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) efforts.4
Green joined ASCO in 2015, initially directing health care reimbursement and coverage aspects of the organization's quality improvement efforts.1 She was appointed as ASCO's first Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer in 2020, following galvanizing events that prompted ASCO to accelerate its programmatic work in anti-racism and EDI.13
Prior to her role at ASCO, Green held several leadership positions:
- Vice President of health and wellness compliance at Walmart Stores
- Deputy Secretary for the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals
- Assistant Deputy Secretary for the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration
- Director of policy and programs at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores1
Green's educational background includes:
- J.D. degree in law
- Masters in Health Administration
- B.S. in Pharmacy2
She also serves on the Board of Trustees for the National Pharmaceutical Association Foundation and sits on the College of Pharmacy Boards of Visitors for Howard University and Xavier University of Louisiana.1
In her current role, Green works to integrate EDI initiatives into all aspects of ASCO's operations, including research, professional development, public policy, membership, publishing, education, and care delivery.3 Her efforts aim to improve equitable, high-quality cancer care for all patients, regardless of their geographic location.3
