Syed Mohammad Ali is a seasoned development anthropologist with twenty years of experience focusing on socio-cultural topics.

Currently, he serves as a research consultant and imparts knowledge as a lecturer teaching international development and anthropology in prestigious institutions like Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, and George Washington universities.

He is a published author, contributing a weekly oped to Express Tribune in Pakistan.

Syed Mohammad Ali holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Melbourne, having also completed his Masters at the same institution and his Bachelors degree at Tufts University.

Throughout his career, he has been affiliated with renowned organizations, holding positions such as Lecturer at The Johns Hopkins University, Non-Resident Scholar at Middle East Institute, Country of Origin Expert at IRRI Rights in Exile, and Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University and The George Washington University.

Furthermore, he has contributed his insights as a Columnist at The Express Tribune, as a Postdoctoral Researcher at McGill University, and as an International Policy Fellow at Central European University.
