Highlights
As I approach I very big birthday in a couple of days, so many reflections, so many thoughts come to mind. If I am being honest, this one is hitting differently. Not sure why, and I know I will get there, may just take an extra minute (or two).
But, all I know so far:
🔷 Be authentic to the world, but also to yourself. If something doesn't feel right in your core, trust that it is not. One of my first managers gave me that advice and it stuck. Do not succumb to the pressure, and never act against your will. Whatever you lose in that process was never meant for you. 🔷 Core values that you live by shouldn't be different than core values in the workplace. Integrity, inclusivity, empathy, to name a few, are fundamental. If you are straying away from these at work due to toxic culture, then the problem is bigger than you and you may not be in the right place. 🔷 Never be silenced. Your voice is what makes you who you are. I have always hired people with deep insight, creativity, perspective, and who can foster change. To me, that is more valuable than anything else. Be a VOICE not an ECHO (cred to Albert Einstein for that line). 🔷 Mentor someone, and uplift everyone. When you see something special in someone that they may not see for themselves, help them uncover their potential. It will be one of the most rewarding things you will EVER do. 🔷 Family comes first always, full stop. Go to the soccer games, the school plays, show up for those you love. Always. 🔷 Follow YOUR arrow. We are all meant for different things. Never let others dictate what they think you should do. We only truly succeed when our work aligns with our passion. This is why I chose a career in HR, because people are my passion.
All this to say, it took me years to believe what I thought I knew. It takes years to truly understand how courageous and strong you can be. My journey was bumpy, took many detours, but I know I am exactly where I am meant to be. Along the way, you will lose jobs, leave jobs, but never lose yourself.
XO, Talia
Courage is integrity. Integrity is courage .
Through the years courage is what I see leaders lack the most. Standing by what is right is the hardest but most powerful thing we can do.
Who is the most courageous person you know ?
