I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Ryan Moore at our Unite conference and hear first hand about the ways they are using Unity and real-time 3D to change the game for pediatric surgeons and change the experience for the patients and their families. Allowing the surgeons to interact with each individual heart in a 3D capacity before surgery (and often an urgent/last minute surgery) is hugely impactful. Giving the patients, and their families, the ability to better understand what is going on, what is going to happen and what the outcomes will be is changing their entire experience of a very stressful and scary time. Dr. Moore describing how often, after a parent interacts with the models, there are tears left in the VR goggles really hit home for me. It was a whoa moment. This isn't just digital twin or gaming technology - it is so so much more than that.
