Thomas Ronacher

Thomas J. Ronacher is the President and Co-Founder of Freeform, a company aiming to redefine industrial-scale additive manufacturing using 3D metal printing.134 He has held this position since March 2023.15 Before becoming President, Ronacher was the CTO and Co-Founder of Freeform from November 2018 to March 2023.15 Erik Palitsch is the CEO and also a Co-Founder, and they both came from SpaceX.23 At Freeform, Ronacher's leadership team is responsible for the company's strategic direction, aligning operations with its mission to revolutionize manufacturing through software-defined 3D printing, fostering innovation, driving business growth, and overseeing the development of advanced technologies.4
Ronacher's extensive background includes various roles at Hyperloop One, where he started as the Director of Hyperstructures in February 2015, leading the structures group to build the first full-scale hyperloop system.1 He then became the Director Of System Engineering - UAE from January 2017 to January 2018, and later the VP of Hardware Engineering from February 2018 to June 2018.1 Before Hyperloop One, Ronacher was the Thermal System Lead for LauncherOne at Virgin Galactic from September 2014 to February 2015 and a Principal Design Engineer at Seal Science, Inc. from January 2013 to September 2014.12
Earlier in his career, Ronacher worked at SpaceX as a Senior Propulsion Analyst from August 2012 to December 2012 and as a Propulsion Analyst & TPS Engineer from June 2007 to August 2012.1 During his time at SpaceX, he performed structural, dynamic, thermodynamic, and fluid analyses.5
Ronacher received a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Fluid Mechanics from UCLA (2006-2007) and a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley (2002-2006).15
