Highlights
This is a super overview of OzFish's Moreton Bay Shellfish Reef Restoration Project, Australia's largest shellfish reef restoration project. This project, and it's results, have enabled OzFish to develop other shellfish reef projects around Australia.
In short, these reefs create significant habitat for a massive variety of wildlife, bringing back fish to areas that have been degraded.
If your company is looking to enhance it's ESG position and would like to get involved restoring Australia's waterways through supporting a project like this, please reach out.
Check out this image from a sounder reading from the OzFish Moreton Bay Chapter!
This side scan image shows our hand-built reef modules (which we call Robust Oyster Baskets or ROBs), made from recycled oyster shells at the site at the Port of Brisbane.
We have now placed nearly 7,000 ROBs onto the floor of Moreton Bay, each small ROB is filtering up to 145 litres of seawater per hour, with each ROB creating a home for around 2,000 animals.
OzFish's shellfish reef restoration project is making a huge improvement to Moreton Bay's water quality and biodiversity!
