Tom Johansmeyer

Tom Johansmeyer is a Ph.D. candidate in International Conflict Analysis at the University of Kent, Canterbury, specializing in the cyber insurance protection gap as a state-level economic security issue. His academic background includes a Master of Arts in Global Diplomacy and an ongoing pursuit of a Ph.D. with research interests in natural disaster-induced civil unrest.

Tom is passionate about microinsurance and ESG, particularly exploring the integration of carbon offsets in insurance-linked securities like ILWs and index-triggered catastrophe bonds. He has been actively involved in pioneering innovative risk transfer transactions in these areas.

Outside of his academic and professional pursuits, Tom enjoys biking, swimming, and weightlifting. He is open to networking opportunities and discussions on re/insurance, cyber and political violence, and staying active in Bermuda.

In his professional capacity, Tom serves as a reinsurance broker specializing in global index risk transfer. His expertise and opinions are reflected in his active contributions on LinkedIn and other platforms.

Tom's diverse educational background includes a Master of Arts in Global Diplomacy, an MBA in Accounting, and a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and History. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in International Conflict Analysis.

Throughout his career, Tom has held various roles in organizations such as Price Forbes Re, Verisk – insurance solutions, The Cross Border Group, Guy Carpenter, Deloitte, j-knowledge, LLC, and the US Army. His experience spans marketing, strategy, analysis, project management, and consulting.
