She is the co-founder and co-director of Advancing Law for Animals, a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for the rights of animals in various industries. Vanessa is also an Adjunct Associate Professor of Law at Southwestern Law School, where she was honored as the Adjunct Professor of the Year for 2022-2023. She is a sought-after speaker on animal law, delivering talks both nationally and internationally.

Prior to focusing on animal law, Vanessa excelled in areas such as illegal taxation, consumer protection, and inverse condemnation. Her experience in government oversight has been instrumental in challenging unjust regulations and advancing animal welfare causes. Vanessa also provides legal consultation services through her private practice.

Vanessa Shakib holds a Juris Doctor degree from George Mason University - Antonin Scalia Law School, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of Southern California. She also completed a 'Semester in Washington Politics' program at The George Washington University.

Throughout her career, Vanessa has held various positions, including Adjunct Associate Professor of Law at Southwestern Law School, Co-Founder and Co-Director of Advancing Law for Animals, and roles at legal firms like Shakib Law, PC; Ahdoot & Wolfson, PC; and Wasserman, Comden, Casselman & Esensten, LLP.
