Highlights
Two of the leadership short courses that I work with are both taking place in Indianapolis in September of this year. Both are run by the Indiana University - Kelley School of Business, Executive Education. "Developing the Effective Technical Leader" attracts engineers from all engineering disciplines ranging from civil mechanical, electrical, industrial, aerospace, IT and more to many other professionals (architects, marketing, finance) who are leading technical teams.
Frontline Leadership is a two-day short course that brings in frontline supervisors from a variety of industries. It's an ideal program for people who are looking to grow as a supervisor and/or who are new to a supervisory role.
Feel free to message me here in LinkedIn if you have questions about either program. I've worked with the instructors, Pete DeLisle (instructor of Tech Leader) and Paul Slaggert and Gar Trusley (instructors of Frontline Leadership) for several years, and highly recommend these learning experiences! #professionaldevelopment #leadership #frontlineleader #engineeringleadership
Today, I mailed the note cards out to the participants in my conference session at the Purdue University Women's Conference, hosted by the Purdue for Life Foundation. During the session, I had given each attendee a note card and asked them to write a few take-aways from our conversation and/or words of encouragement to themselves about their dream. I'm hoping their notes to themselves will help them re-engage with the topics of the conference.
The event was especially memorable for me to have the opportunity to be a speaker back at my alma mater, and also, to do my presentation from crutches. The week before, I had experienced an emergency room visit and had my leg sewn back together. Nineteen stitches later, I'll add that house cleaning is a bit overrated! My fellow Boilermakers were so kind and gracious during the event in helping me navigate speaker life with a fresh injury.
On Friday [July 26th at 6 pm], I'll be returning to the Purdue Memorial Union with my band to play the Summer Concert Series from the East Terrace. I'm blessed to be playing with the amazingly-talented Scott Greeson on rhythm guitar, harmonica and vocals, and Michael Kelsey on lead guitar and vocals, Purdue staffer, Jacob Rowe, on drums, Greg Brassie on bass, Lee Anna Atwell on keys and vocals, and Derrick L. Coleman on sax. We look forward to seeing you soon!
