Virginia Rademacher

Virginia Rademacher is a distinguished Professor of Literary and Cultural Studies and the Chair of the Arts and Humanities Division at Babson College.

Her research focuses on interdisciplinary connections among literary strategy, narrative theory, film and media studies, and cultural change.

Virginia has extensively published on genre, gender, and new narrative formats, with a recent emphasis on biofiction, autofiction, and life writing.

Her book 'Derivative Lives: Biofiction, Uncertainty, and Speculative Risk in Contemporary Spanish Narrative' delves into the interdisciplinary exploration of biofiction in the context of uncertainty and speculation in a post-truth era.

Recognized for her academic contributions, she received the Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2015 and the Dean's Award for College-Wide Service in 2022 at Babson College.

She holds a PhD in Hispanic Literature from the University of Virginia, an M.A. in Economics and International Affairs from Johns Hopkins University (SAIS), and an A.B. in Hispanic Studies from Harvard University.

Virginia Rademacher has a rich academic background, having held various positions at Babson College including Professor, Chair, and Director, along with previous roles at Georgetown University and as Chief of Staff for Congressman Ron Machtley (RI).
