Yvorn Aswad

Resident Doctor at Lifespan

Yvorn "Doc" Aswad is a board-eligible pediatrician and child psychiatrist who recently completed his residency at Lifespan in Providence, Rhode Island.2 He trained in the Brown University Triple Board program, which combines Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.21

Aswad received his medical degree from Charles Drew University/David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in 2019.12 He completed his undergraduate studies at Stanford University, earning a BA in Human Biology with a minor in African and African-American Studies.2

Currently, Aswad is a Commonwealth Fund Fellow in Minority Health Policy at Harvard University, where he is developing skills in healthcare management.2 He is also pursuing a Master of Public Health degree at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.2

Aswad has a strong interest in addressing health disparities and social justice issues. He co-founded Health Beyond Bars, a student-run group that mentors and provides health education to incarcerated youth.1 His career interests focus on structural issues leading to violence, incarceration, and trauma, as well as systems failings that contribute to lack of access and differential outcomes.1

In 2022, Aswad received the Donald J. Cohen Fellowship Program for International Scholars in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, which supported his attendance at the IACAPAP Congress in Dubai.1
