Zain A. Gulamali is a technology executive, corporate and business development leader, and venture capital / growth equity investor with 17+ years of experience in enterprise, consumer, and healthcare technology investing, as well as strategy, M&A, business development, and startup operations.

Currently, he serves as the Head of Amazon Catalytic Capital, leading a fund-of-funds supporting underrepresented founders, and as a Venture Investor for the Amazon Alexa Fund, focusing on investments in AI, frontier tech, robotics, sustainability, healthcare, and media across consumer and enterprise segments.

Zain has been instrumental in sourcing, leading, or managing 30+ Alexa Fund VC investments, including notable companies like Greenlight, Owlet Baby Care, SmartRent, SevenRooms, Fiddler, Embodied, and June Oven, with valuations and exits in the billions.

His investment focus includes AI and ML tools, enterprise and collaboration, healthcare, aging, robotics, property tech, financial tech, and mobility.

He leads a 30-person working group on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) and has initiated programs like the Women Founders Represent pitch competition and workshops for underrepresented startup founders.

Zain's background includes roles in venture capital at Amazon Alexa Fund, startup operating leadership at Pocket Gems, growth equity investing at Warburg Pincus, and M&A and investment banking at Goldman Sachs.

Apart from his professional endeavors, he has dedicated time to urban community service and international development through the Aga Khan Development Network.

Zain is an alumnus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Stanford Graduate School of Business, holding degrees in Computer Science and Media Studies, Management Science, and a Master's in Management.
