Highlights
Relief from R&D amortization requirement, and more R&D credits to incentivize qualified R&D activities.
For many who were affected by the Original TCJA "sleeper rule" that required businesses to capitalize on R&D expenses, we hope to see some positive news coming for you. In addition, additional credits would be made available for startups who take advantage of the payroll tax credit by reducing hurdles to becoming a qualified small business.
For examples:
- up to 750K or payroll credits offset
- increasing the amount of credit calculation from qualified research expenditures
- allowing more startups to qualify for payroll tax credits offset through increasing the 5 years rule to 8 years while at the same time allowing startups to have up to $15M of gross receipts.
Conclusion for Startups: DONT FILE YOUR RETURN YET FOR 2022
