Dr. Zizi Papacharissi is a distinguished professor in Communication and Political Science at the University of Illinois-Chicago, where she also serves as the Department Head of Communication. She is a University Scholar and affiliated faculty member with the Discovery Partners Institute within the University of Illinois System. Her most recent book, 'After Democracy: Imagining our Political Future,' published by Yale University Press, is available. Born and raised in Thessaloniki, Greece, Zizi pursued her educational journey with full scholarships, earning a double BA in Economics and Media Studies from Mount Holyoke College, followed by a Master's degree in Communication Studies from Kent State University. She completed her PhD in New Media Technologies and Political Communication at The University of Texas at Austin, fully supported by fellowships and scholarships from institutions like the Onassis Foundation and UT-Austin.
Dr. Papacharissi has received recognition for her impactful contributions to the field of Communication. She was honored as a high-impact scholar by UT-Austin and was awarded the 2018 Wayne Danielson Award for the significant sum and impact of her work.
