Today, as I celebrate the completion of my MBA, I reflect on a journey that has not only reshaped my career but also profoundly influenced my outlook on life and leadership.

In 2016, I moved to the Bay Area, joining the pioneering team at Zee.Aero, led by Larry Page and Sebastian Thrun, to explore building flying air taxis and autonomous vehicles. This adventure ignited my drive to eventually pursue an MBA at UC-Berkeley, a hub of innovation.

My time at Berkeley deepened my passion for entrepreneurship, enhancing my curiosity, open-mindedness, and data-driven decision-making. I learned the relentless art of testing and iterating your startup. Immense thanks to Michael Chai, Kelly Ochoa, Mike Vladimer, Sebastien Taveau ஃ and Dhruv Kulkarni from Berkeley’s Entrepreneurship community for their support and encouragement to explore new business ideas.

Mentorship was pivotal. During my time at Dexterity, Joey Li shaped my Go-To-Market strategy perspective as a Product Leader at a dynamic startup. Julia Rosof and Carolyn Chuong Holgate guided me through an intense and growth-defining role at Amazon.com, owning a C-Level product strategy that impacts how 300M+ people shop worldwide. I'm also grateful to Victor Gorrachategui and Doris Yuan for their support during my Amazon experience.

A defining moment during my MBA journey was sharing my Asian-American background from New Jersey with over 200 peers on stage, deepening my connection with my classmates. This personal story was a part of my submission to the Kleiner Perkins Product Fellowship and eventually making it to the semi-finalist round.

Special thanks to Karla Cohen, my MBA sage, who unlocked new self-discoveries during the admissions journey, and my family, especially my brother Andrew Zheng, who was always there to listen to another late-night phone call when I was confronted with the program's challenges. Cheers to my near and dear friends Paris Varias, Timothy Daniel, Sarth P., Nicholas Goomer, Stavros Antonopoulos, Ji Soo Choi, Will Li, Tanisha Patni, Peter Pang, Nicholas Do, Jennifer Wong (She/Her), Rauf Khan for unforgettable conversations and lifelong connection. Thanks to Brad Allen for his mentorship and encouragement to embrace self-awareness and vulnerability as strengths to nurture stronger relationships in my life, both professionally and personally.

Additionally, I am profoundly thankful to my former managers—Herve Martins-rivas, Lindsay Turk Squeri, and Jeff Ota—who not only inspired me to apply to business school but also encouraged me to bring my full self to my work.

Looking ahead, I’m eager to apply my engineering and business insights to tackle challenges as a first-time founder in supply chain automation. If you’re exploring similar paths to a MBA or have any insights into manufacturing and supply chain management, let’s connect!

Here’s to future innovations and new beginnings.

Hello LinkedIn network, I’m part of an academic research team working under UC-Berkeley’s Innovation Agency, a program designed to foster innovative solutions through design thinking. Our current project focuses on the waste management sector, and we're seeking to connect with industry experts. Our goal is to interview individuals across various roles—local government officials, education partners, recycling company leaders, and technology builders—to enrich our research. If you have connections to such professionals or can help with introductions, it would significantly benefit our efforts. Any assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated! Please comment below or send me a direct message.
