Highlights
Back from holidays, and it’s safe to say that my time off gave me a lot to chew on - literally and figuratively.
But my chewing days are over for the next 6 weeks as I recover from a rather extensive wisdom tooth extraction.
The whole process got me thinking about my own business and those of my clients. I didn’t know I had a problem until a diagnosis of an xray showed up that I had a cyst eating away at my jaw bone. I could have gone on oblivious to their being any issue, until one day my jaw bone would have fractured.
This past year, I’ve had the privilege of working with some incredible legal tech founders. Reflecting on this over the last few weeks, I think the common thread between them is that they all want to refine and improve their go to market.
Another way of putting that could be that they have undiagnosed problems in their revenue strategy which are slowing them down. Most legal tech founders don’t have any past experience of building a legal tech company so it’s perfectly reasonable to expect this.
But those who I feel for most are the ones that think everything is rosey and can’t or don’t want to see the problems just underneath the surface.
Problems with their messaging, outreach campaigns, a belief that PMF has been achieved because a couple of clients have signed a contract, those with a target of $£500k / $£1m in ARR with no bottoms up plan of how to achieve it, the polished demo deck being the only structured part of their sales process etc.
Every startup has undiagnosed problems. Most underestimate the impact these can have on a company's growth trajectory as well as the additional stress it can put on teams.
I offer an initial consultations for legal tech companies. Unlike my xray and subsequent surgery, it’s free and no obligation. If you’re interested, send me a DM or book a meeting directly from my profile.
Your startup might not have a critical ailment, but there might be a better, faster ways of getting to where they want to go.

No I didn't make it to ILTA this year. Yes I'm envious of missing out but I did get to teach my 2 year old how to swim #prouddad
If you're a legal tech founder that did get to attend, I hope it was successful for you!
Have you:
🗓️ Secured all those follow up meetings that you logged as new opportunities? Were they really new opportunities..?
🤝🏼 Made those intro's that you promised you'd make? What goes around…
🍾 Recovered from 5 days of conversation, drinking, listening and partying? 2 out of 3 isn't bad.
Next year.....
