This is a special post to thank my amazing crew for winning our class in an unforgettable #raceforall Round the Island Race this Saturday!
In the toughest conditions for the race I have seen in the 30 years since I first did it, only 154 boats were able to finish the race out of 939 who entered. Where professional skippers with inexperienced paying corporate crew made the right decision not to face the 50+ knot winds to round the needles, for those crews who have spent half their lives sailing together it was a fantastic race. We worked out we had 350 years of combined sailing experience onboard and the essential ingredients of any #winningteam - skills yes, but more importantly, the trust, support and confidence of each other. Love you all - Andrew Bowley, Leah Bowley, Karina Martin Mst (my sis 😊 ), Adam Martin, Gregory Park, Duncan Magnus P., Benedikt Park, Shaun Hamblen, Paul Brown. Everyone who works in the world of #digitalassets should read this document! Why? Because 'Digital Assets' is a very broad term that can cover a multitude of types of assets from bearer-like crypto-assets to tokenised securities to stablecoins to CBDC's.
Digging in a bit deeper, those assets could be pegged, unpegged, fungible, non-fungible, redeemable, non-redeemable, digital-native or digital twin, money or money-like, etc etc. You get the picture - the devil is in the detail, particularly where regulators are concerned.
Various digital asset taxonomy documents have been produced over the last few years, but this is the best I have seen - clear, concise and objective. So hats off to Caroline Butler, Sandy Kaul and the whole #CFTC GMAC DAMS for their snappily titled 'Digital Assets Classification Approach and Taxonomy' - it's a really good piece of work.
