Today is the 33rd Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Businesses are required by law to create an accessible working experience for employees. At Microsoft, we believe that accessibility is a fundamental human right, so we built the below free tools and resources to help YOU create a better working experience for your colleagues & employees with disabilities. Please share this post so that more people can know how to help!

1.) Accessibility Training. https://lnkd.in/e3j447YG

2.) Check your communications with accessibility checker. 99% of you don't create accessible emails. https://lnkd.in/ev8XuJHt

3.) Use Bing chat to reword content into plain language for colleagues and consumers. Most people have an elementary school reading level, so simple language is essential.

4.) Enable live captioning when presenting using PowerPoint. https://https://lnkd.in/eUUBZKik.

5.) Use inclusive design methodology to build disability-inclusive products and experiences. https://lnkd.in/eTdpKhGY

As a person with ADHD, I grew up thinking I wasn't smart because I couldn't learn as quickly as others. This greatly affected my self-esteem, which caused me to hold myself back in many aspects of life.

💡This changed when I learned that my difficulties were caused by poor design decisions that made it difficult for my neurodivergent brain to learn. 💡

📣 I'm excited to share with you, Inclusive Design for Cognition Toolkit, a set of tools to help experience builders work against cognitive exclusion. These tools are built off the idea that for any task to be successful, motivation (ability) has to equal or surpass cognitive load.  Below is an article from FastCompany that summarizes the toolkit well.📣

This toolkit is not all-encompassing, and is one of the many ways that we are trying to work against exclusion in experiences. Explore the toolkit and let us know how it can improve. You can find the toolkit and more inclusive design goodness on the new inclusive design website https://lnkd.in/eTdpKhGY
