Highlights
Almost four years ago, when I joined Degreed, I attended many webinars and events to understand how organisations approach learning and skilling.
During these events, Vidya Krishnan’s insights left a lasting impact on me. She emphasized the importance of learning new skills and continual growth with her own career journey being so remarkable—transitioning from a network engineer to a customer training advocate and eventually to the role of CLO at Ericsson.
Here are 3 powerful quotes from her that continue to inspire me -
- “Possibility is defined by capability”
- “Learning is the second most powerful connection between two people, right after love”
- “Failure is not fun but it is fundamental” - stressing the need to decouple shame from failure, enabling us to focus on unlearning and building new capabilities.
If you want to hear about her journey and learn from her, I highly recommend the upcoming “Five-Part Masterclass: Putting Skills to Work at Ericsson” in August. (Link to register in the comments)
I took a leaf out of Keith Ferrazzi's book "Never Eat Alone" to ensure my week traveling to Singapore was filled with great conversations and meaningful connections.
I had insightful discussions with Shailesh, Andrew, and Anand on the evolving HR and skills landscape, and I am deeply grateful for Puneet Swani’s generosity and mentorship.
Craig and I enjoyed quality time with Pankaj and Nicole Ma, and a particular highlight of the week was having Marvin join Melvyn and me at the SAP SuccessFactors office—as a robot!
Craig, George, and I also had valuable discussions with David and Drew from Capability Group Ltd. about enhancing our collaboration to ensure the success of the Degreed Launchpad initiative in Southeast Asia. (Link in the comments if you want to find out more.)
Lastly, we celebrated Maxwell Wessel stepping into the role of Co-CEO alongside David Blake. We at Degreed could not be more thrilled about what the future holds—onwards and upwards! 🚀
