Mary Marshall is the dedicated founder and manager of the Solar Forward program at Solar Energy International (SEI), which initially started as a local initiative in Delta County, Colorado to address the challenges arising from coal mine closures in the area. Her firsthand experience in communities affected by the transition from mining to renewable energy drove her passion for creating resilient rural areas powered by clean energy. Mary's commitment has led to the successful deployment of over 2.5 megawatts of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) throughout Colorado. Drawing from her background as a professional organizer, electric cooperative coach, and communications expert, Mary brings innovative solutions and resources to communities at no cost, making a significant impact statewide. She has shared her insights on notable news platforms such as NBC's Nightly News, MSNBC's Live with Thomas Roberts, and Dateline, collaborating with esteemed journalist Tom Brokaw during her tenure. Transitioning her communication skills towards local engagement, Mary obtained a NABCEP certification after comprehensive training from SEI courses. Additionally, she excels as a professional community organizing coach, spearheading a nationwide program focused on rural electric cooperative initiatives.
