I’ve been reflecting lately on how to scale truly great design. It’s one thing to pull off great design in a small team, where you stay close to the work and the people - you hone an exceptional bunch of designers, nurture constructive partnerships with your stakeholders and instill a good process and a healthy culture of critique — it’s a whole different ball game to do that really well across a large org.
In order to scale good design, you first need to define it in a way that can be scaled - Peter Merholz, as always, has a wise take on this > https://lnkd.in/edeiUp9d
Principles feature highly in this, of which so much has been written, but this take by Julie Zhuo from back in 2015 still stands strong in my opinion > https://lnkd.in/e2anJ6nH
Lastly, Rachel Kobe’s four steps on fostering empowerment and accountability for design excellence is a good short read on the subject > https://lnkd.in/eqT6kAmb
