Highlights
Omar Ramirez van Dalen and I got married!
I never thought I’d write those words. My parents never got married - and I thought marriage was an old fashioned institute to sign a paper that you love eachother.
But now I’ve been through the whole process - and made it our own - I wish I could have looked forward to it a bit longer. And I can recommend anyone to get married - provided you do it in a way that suits you and your partner.
Why?
-
Any chance to gather and celebrate life and love with your loved ones in one place is incredibly valuable - especially if like in our case the families and friends are spread across the world and Mexico and the Netherlands.
-
Sharing in front of our loved ones why we chose eachother as life partner and what our intentions are for our life together was beautiful and makes our relationship and promises stronger.
-
All the rituals around marriage brought me and my friends closer together. Celebrating my hens party, choosing dresses and jewelry together, the wedding preps, traveling together: it build memories that last a lifetime. And bonus: My friends I had picked up in different paths of life and parts of the world now became friends!
-
In the same way, it brings the families closer together ❤️ my mum and his mum are messaging eachother more than we message our mums !
-
It’s just fun! At least for us it was, we didn’t take things too serious and just enjoyed the creative process as much as we could , and therefore also could enjoy the day.
-
It’s a super fun large creative project , where I can use all my skills I developed in life and work
Marriage isn’t a magic guarantee that we will stay together, but for me it helps in increasing the chances we will.
And if you managed to get this far you probably wonder why I share this on LinkedIn.
It’s because I’m adding the Ramirez name to my name - another ritual of bonding 😉 - and it will be visible for everyone so I want to explain why.
I’m so grateful I found this beautiful man of the inside and out, an amazing father of our son, and so enjoying spending our life together. Te amo Omar Ramirez van Dalen !
With love,
Robin Ramirez van Dalen
