Medical Student at The University of Queensland

Samin Houshyar is a dedicated Biology and Brain and Cognitive Sciences student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). With a passion for immunology and infectious diseases, Samin has a diverse background in microbiology, parasitology, and virology, and is transitioning towards autoimmune diseases and the role of the immune system in cancer and Alzheimer's disease.

Samin's expertise lies in a wide range of molecular biology techniques including PCR, RT-PCR, cloning, electrophoresis, DNA sequencing, and protein expression in bacterial hosts. Additionally, they are skilled in mammalian cell techniques such as culture, transfection, intra cellular signaling analysis, and apoptosis studies. Samin also has experience in animal studies (particularly with mice) and immunologic tests like ELISA, Western blotting, and LDH release assay.

Educationally, Samin pursued a Bachelor of Science in Biology at MIT. They have been associated with prestigious organizations such as Broad Institute, Whitehead Institute, Institut Pasteur, Saeij Lab at MIT, Zimmer Lab at University of Bonn, and Sengupta Lab at Brigham and Women's Hospital in various research and teaching capacities.
