Compiler's friends at DataMade are hiring a junior developer. The person must be based in Chicago or willing to relocate (and funds are provided for that). The benefits are great. Pass this along to anyone who might be interested!
About two months ago, Compiler published a blog I authored, Creating Compiler’s Parental Leave Policy. I’m extremely proud of it. The blog tells the story of how Compiler established a partially paid #parentalleave program from scratch, mostly on our own with some guidance from our wonderful, Sacramento-based legal team. Developing a parental leave program was a team effort, and we hit bumps and slowdowns. We continue to learn something new and puzzling about providing parental leave every time an employee utilizes the benefit.
When I started developing a parental leave policy, I couldn’t find many resources from small companies like Compiler that had done this before us. My hope for this blog post is that it will find its way to small business leaders that want to offer this important, meaningful, and oh-so-needed benefit to their employees that are building their families.
Some of us have floated the idea of writing a follow up blog from the employee’s perspective – what it’s like to receive employer provided partial wage replacement and time off while also navigating state programs like California’s Disability Insurance and Paid Family Leave. What do you think? Do you want to hear those stories?
I’m happy to connect with anyone who is taking this on. There’s so much more I can share, and I can empathize when you inevitably scream, “Why must this be so confusing and difficult?! Paid family leave for all!”
