Serbia is emerging as a key player in the global AI and AI compute talent landscape, which aligns perfectly with the Fifth Quarter Ventures strategy. The country’s growing importance in this sector was highlighted during French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent visit, where AI development in Serbia was a significant topic of discussion.

Just a week after Macron’s visit, AMD announced the opening of multiple R&D offices in Serbia, focusing on designing and deploying end-to-end AI solutions using their Instinct accelerator and Radeon graphics cards. This milestone was made possible through the efforts of two prominent Serbian tech leaders: Andrej Zdravkovic (SVP Eng and Chief Software Officer) and Aleksandar Cabrilo (CEO of HTEC who previously established Intel Corporation R&D center in Belgrade).

With AMD now onboard, Serbia continues to attract leading chip manufacturers from the US, Canada, Israel like Intel, NVIDIA, Cisco, NextSilicon, and Tenstorrent, all of which are hiring R&D staff to tap into Serbia’s tech talent pool. This is a testament to Serbia’s growing reputation as a global hub for AI and semiconductor R&D. Go 🇷🇸 !
