Dr. Washington O. Ochola is a distinguished professional with a PhD in sustainable agriculture and rural development from the Agricultural University of Athens, complemented by a Master's degree in Agricultural Systems Management from South China Agricultural University and a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education and Extension from Egerton University, Kenya.

With a rich background in research project design, implementation, and management, Dr. Ochola has excelled in institutional capacity development, sustainable development planning, and monitoring, along with integrated environmental assessment reporting.

His expertise extends to strategic policy processes, organizational risk management, and operational plans, having collaborated with prominent organizations like ILRI, UNDP, UNEP, UNECA, the World Bank, and numerous African countries.

Dr. Ochola is adept in socio-economic and environmental scenario development, modeling, and policy analysis, contributing significantly to the production of vital assessment reports, strategies, and policies.

As a respected facilitator, he is well-versed in conducting face-to-face and virtual meetings, workshops, writeshops, and multi-stakeholder processes, having lent his expertise to IDRC, AGRA, and COMESA.

Additionally, Dr. Ochola supports scientists in enhancing skills and capacities through training in various areas such as proposal writing, scientific communication, ICT collaborative research management, monitoring and evaluation, outcome mapping, value chain analysis, and community/farmer-based development planning.

His career highlights include serving in key positions at reputable organizations like FAO Tanzania, UNDP, USAID AfricaLead II, ILRI, and Ruforum Network, showcasing his dedication and impact in the field of sustainable development.

Currently, Dr. Ochola serves as a part-time Institutional Capacity Building Advisor for AfricaLead II under the USAID-Feed the Future Initiative, continuing his commitment to fostering growth and development in the African agricultural landscape.
