Wirakhman Maharlika SOMANTRI is an environmental engineer with a master's degree in environmental health engineering. He has extensive field experience in water and sanitation projects across various countries such as Indonesia, Timor Leste, Thailand, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Myanmar. With a background in engineering for development, Wirakhman has been involved in capacity building activities collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders including authorities, detainees, NGOs, National Societies, and beneficiaries.

His work includes water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion interventions in both emergency and normal situations. Wirakhman possesses technical expertise in a wide array of water supply technologies, including the development of water sources and water treatments, as well as sanitation technologies like faecal sludge and medical waste management. He has operated in diverse environments such as rural areas, camp settings, detention facilities, and health facilities.

Wirakhman Maharlika SOMANTRI pursued his Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Engineering for Development from the University of Southampton and his Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Environmental Engineering Technology/Environmental Technology from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB).

Throughout his professional journey, Wirakhman has held various roles in esteemed organizations. He served as the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Manager, Water, Sanitation, Hygiene Programme Manager, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Surge Delegate, and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Delegate at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). Additionally, he worked as a Water and Habitat Engineer at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and gained experience as a Public Health Engineer Intern at Oxfam.
