Yuchao Dai

DECRA Fellow at Australian National University

Yuchao Dai is currently a Professor at the School of Electronics and Information at Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) in China.12 He received his B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. degrees in signal and information processing from NPU in 2005, 2008, and 2012, respectively.1

From 2014 to 2017, Dai was an ARC DECRA Fellow with the Research School of Engineering at the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra, Australia.12 Prior to that, he was a Research Fellow with the Research School of Computer Science at ANU from 2012 to 2014.1

His research interests include:

  • Structure from motion
  • Multi-view geometry
  • Low-level computer vision
  • Deep learning
  • Compressive sensing
  • Optimization

Dai has received several awards for his work, including:

  • Best Paper Award at IEEE CVPR 2012
  • DSTO Best Fundamental Contribution to Image Processing Paper Prize at DICTA 2014
  • Best Algorithm Prize in NRSFM Challenge at CVPR 2017
  • Best Student Paper Prize at DICTA 2017
  • Best Deep/Machine Learning Paper Prize at APSIPA ASC 2017
  • Best Paper Award Nominee at IEEE CVPR 2020123

He has also served as an Area Chair for various conferences, including CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, and NeurIPS.2
