I led my first 3 Practices discovery circle last night. My question was, "Should the Democratic party nominate a new presidential candidate?"
https://3practices.com/ anyone can participate and it's free.
A participant volunteers to respond to the frame. Then we use the 3Practice Circle 2-1-1 model: 2 minutes to the volunteer … followed by 1 minute to respond to clarifying questions and 1 minute to respond to follow-ups… and all questions begin with the phrase “I’d be curious to know…”
The 3Practices are… • I’ll be unusually interested in others • I’ll stay in the room with difference • I’ll stop comparing my best with your worst 2. Agreement is not one of the Practices. What we’re looking for is clarity — about what others think, and feel, and want. 3. 3Practice Circles help us find our own voices by learning to listen — with genuine curiosity — to the voices of others whose ideas, beliefs, and lived experience maybe different from ours. 4. This is not a discussion or debate — it’s a workout that prepares us to hear things we might otherwise miss in the real world.
Some recent circle farming questions: Should the Democratic Party nominate a new presidential candidate? What difference does his/her/their pronoun make to you/ya'll/us? One of the most powerful lessons I’ve learned from being an Ombuds is…. We’ve heard from the Religious Right; what do you think the Religious Left wants from the next POTUS? If I were in charge, here's what I'd change… Are you OK? Here's a summer I'll never forget and what I learned from it..... Americans continue to accept lies! Tell me I'm wrong…. How do you pursue happiness in your life, with liberty and justice for all? When I feel attacked, offended or threatened by a member of my family, this is how I typically respond.
Here at FSI, again, teaching Leading from Anywhere. I love these folks! The training group for State is awesome. Professional facilitators and coaches, it is a pleasure to work and learn from them.
