Ruilong Hu

Research Fellow at Boston Children's Hospital & the Broad Institute

Ruilong Hu is a postdoctoral research fellow specializing in neurobiology and neurophysiology. Currently, he works in Beth Stevens' laboratory at both Boston Children's Hospital and the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT. His expertise includes animal research, patch clamp electrophysiology, single unit and field potential electrophysiology, chemogenetics, optogenetics, single photon uncaging, fluorescent microscopy, and data analysis in MATLAB, Python, and R.

Hu completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Neuroscience at the University of Maryland College Park. Prior to that, he earned a B.A. in Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis. He also attended Lawrence Free State High School.

Throughout his career, Hu has been affiliated with prestigious organizations. He is currently a Research Fellow at Boston Children's Hospital and was previously a Research Affiliate at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. He also served as a Research Facilitator at the Marine Biology Laboratory's Neurobiology Course, a PhD Candidate at the University of Maryland, a Research Technician II at the Department of Anatomy & Neurobiology at Washington University in St. Louis, and an Assistant Rowing Coach within the same department. Additionally, he participated in research programs at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
